In the past children in the New York City were told to work hard, do what was right, and they would have a chance to be successful. The message for the children of the 21st century is different from the 20th century. The current generation is told to be perverse, mediocre, and slick in order to succeed.
Michael Bloomberg implemented a program for the students on New York City. The program pays students cash to come to school on time and complete their assignments. So the purpose of learning is not the pursuit of excellence for the sake of intellectual development, but cash in hand.
These children fit right into a society that rewards criminal activity with the earnings of the hard working every day people. We saw developers along with financiers cheat their way into a greater wealth using real-estate. Some of these characters broke laws. Were they arrested? No. These crooks were given more money from the very citizens that they hustled.
The first generation of the new millennium has learned to do their worst if they want to gain. Fortunately for us, this lifestyle cannot hold. As quickly as the children have learned to be slicksters, they will have to unlearn it.
